Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.

By Justin Lee, theWHIR.com

June 25, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Domain registrar and web hosting provider Register.com (register.com) announced on Wednesday it has launched an affordable shared hosting service (register.com/product/hosting.rcmx) for small businesses that offers large space allocations, as well as layered unique features and functionality.

Register.com's web hosting service offers three plans - Essential, Professional and Premium - depending on the number and size of websites the customer is hosting. All plans include a 100 percent uptime guarantee and an innovative control panel.

Perhaps the most important aspect of the new service is the site restore feature, which enables one-click restoration of previous website versions.

The feature assures small businesses that they no longer need to concern themselves about losing data or having to redesign the site to revert to a previous version.

The site restore feature is included with every hosting plan that automatically saves up to 13 copies of each site, which breaks down to one per day for eight consecutive days and an additional one copy per week for five weeks.

A dedicated IP address is also included with every plan to improve the website's search engine rankings and security. Register.com says it uses virtualization technology to enable hosting resources to expand automatically as the site grows.

"Register.com's new hosting service is a great example of how we are helping our small business customers be successful online," says Larry Kutscher, CEO at Register.com. "Our customers told us about the kind of features they wish they could find in a hosting provider - we listened and we created the hosting service they dreamed of and more - at a price they could afford."

Internap Network Services recently announced that Register.com will use Internap's full portfolio of services to power its e-commerce site.

Is the WHIR aware that all register.com did was purchase several dedicated boxes from fastservers.net with cpanel pre-installed? This is not secret information i mean just lookup the IP address of the register.com hosting boxes.

I'm not really sure this qualifies as news. I mean i can go to fastservers.net and plunk down my credit card for a $200 a month box with cpanel... would i qualify for a WHIR article?

Larry is a fool - he KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT HOSTING or the BUSINESS - "at a price they can afford" try Godaddy.com or any other 3 dollar a month cpanel host - It will only save you 1000% for the same shit - THEY ARE A JOKE AND HE IS AN ARROGANT FOOL

so i guess this means they dumped Hostopia as their hosting provider? what does this mean for register.com customers on their "old" platform (hostopia)?

Wait a second...

this is the same register.com that wacked PhotoBucket off the internet last week because they are clueless and cannot manage simple DNS?

How can they offer 100% uptime when photobucket was offline for a full day last week? I call shenanigans

Great Post - yes this is the same company that knocked aphotobucket offline last week - you want to laugh they quote the GC as Roni Jacobson and if you look at other press releases and the site itself under their small business community she is also the head of products - HA!!! maybe that is the reason they knocked the site off they have a lawyer moonlighting as product development lead - the company is falling apart!
