June 24, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Messaging security provider Cloudmark Authority (cloudmark.com) announced on Monday it has launched Cloudmark ActiveFilter, a solution that cleans up unwanted messages delivered to the service provider mail store.

The company says its new solution is the "first of its kind" and can dramatically improve the user experience by freeing up valuable storage capacity and boosting filtering accuracy.

With the addition of ActiveFilter to the company's product suite, Cloudmark says it now delivers messaging security at every point in the messaging infrastructure, with Cloudmark Sender Intelligence at the edge of the network, Cloudmark Authority at the content stage on the mail transfer agent and with Cloudmark ActiveFilter monitoring the mail store.

"The entire ActiveFilter process is transparent to the end user, who only sees a cleaner inbox," says Jamie de Guerre, chief technology officer at Cloudmark. "With ActiveFilter, Cloudmark is now able to efficiently and accurately protect the inbox by removing newly-identified spam, viruses and phishing attacks before the user even sees them. The result is not only that subscribers are exposed to fewer damaging attacks, but also that they have a markedly improved user experience."

Last month we posted a video interview with de Guerre on the WHIRtv site.

Cloudmark says ActiveFilter will be generally available in the third quarter as an add-on feature to the Cloudmark Gateway edge MTA.

As far as messaging security goes, Cloudmark is a provider that has been working fairly closely with web hosts and telecom providers, as can be seen with its significant presence as speakers and exhibitors at annual industry events like Webhosting Day, Parallels Hosting Summit and the cPanel Conference as well as its recent partnership announcements.

Late last month, Mailtrust partnered with Cloudmark to provide complete spam and phishing protection to its more than 100,000 business hosting customers.

In March, Cloudmark reported it was selected by Australian Web hosting provider Melbourne IT to protect its email subscribers from messaging abuse.

Cloudmark says its solutions protect more than 600 million mailboxes for the world's largest service provider networks, including over 75 percent of major ISPs in the US and Japan.
