June 23, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Utility hosting services provider Layered Technologies (layeredtechnologies.com) announced on Monday that Tier 1 Research (t1r.com) founder Andy Schroepfer will be the keynote speaker for the closing day of LT PACT 2008 (layeredtech.com/ltpact/).

The conference will take place June 25 to 27 at Caesars Palace Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Schroepfer to deliver his keynote address, "Transformation Realities in the Hosting Industry" on June 27 at 8:30 a.m.

Scheroepfer also delivered a keynote address at last year's LT PACT 2007, where the WHIR TV had a chance to sit down and talk to him about his presentation and overall impressions about the conference.

Layered Tech previously announced that James Staten, principal analyst, IT infrastructure and operations at Forrester Research, will deliver the opening keynote address, "Cloud / Grid Computing: A Classic Disruptive Technology" on June 26.

Industry analysts, key industry players and hosting-related representatives from WordPress, 3Tera, AMD, HP, Microsoft, SUN, Seagate, Parallels and R1Soft will discuss pertinent information in the industry at the third annual LT PACT, says Layered Tech.

Attendees will be able to learn industry insights, interact with new products in workshops, increase revenue with improved business practices and participate in the free Texas Hold' em Tournament with $5,000 in cash prizes.

"We're excited and honored to have Andy back again this year at LT PACT to deliver the keynote on our second day of  the event," says Todd Abrams, president and COO of Layered Technologies. "He will provide highlights on recently released data regarding the transformation occurring in the hosting industry."

The event will kick off the evening of June 25 with a cocktail party featuring an open bar, before concluding the evening of June 27 with a dinner banquet and the Hold'em Poker Tournament.

LT PACT strives to distinguish itself among the many other vendor conferences that take place within the industry each year. In a January interview, Abrams said that although LT PACT is held by a hosting company, it is designed to help attendees and the presenting companies within the context of the environment of Layered Tech's customers and partners.

Layered Technologies has customers in more than 120 countries, providing both large and small customers to rapidly deploy on-demand hosting and utility computing services.

The WHIR TV will be reporting live, on location, to LT PACT 2008.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
