Latisys Signs Colo Deal with NetQuote

By Justin Lee, June 18, 2009

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Online insurance marketplace NetQuote (www.netquote.com) announced on Wednesday it has selected data center operator Latisys (www.latisys.com) for the colocation of NetQuote's business-critical online infrastructure.

NetQuote provides insurance-related content, services and tools to consumers of insurance services, to an end user community of more than 25 million users spanning thousands of insurance agents throughout the United States.

Latisys says it will provide NetQuote with "highly secure and reliable, high-density colocation services backed by 100 percent service-level agreements for the data center’s power and environmental systems."

This will include Latisys Managed Optimized IP, which uses the rich network connectivity provided by some of the largest telecommunications companies in the world with infrastructure in Latisys' US data centers.

"The full set of Latisys services affords us the ability to adapt our IT infrastructure to meet the growth of our Web operations," says John Marosi, director of technology operations for NetQuote. "Superior connectivity and the ultimate in colocation services, plus the availability of a full suite of IT infrastructure solutions, including its highly elastic managed computing offering, all add up to make Latisys the right service provider to manage the production environment for our Web operations."

Formerly called Managed Data Holdings, the company changed its name to Latisys in March to reflect a new brand that unites its strategy, data center locations and service offerings under one company name.

The company has grown significantly, particularly within the last year. Over the past few quarters, Latisys has expanded by more than 30,000 square feet its footprint of sellable data center space to meet this growing customer demand.

Latisys provides a range of services, including colocation, managed hosting, managed services and disaster recovery solutions to all small and medium-sized businesses and enterprise customers.

July 2010 - What's Next? Forecasting Hosting's Future
Technically, there's nothing new about us posing the question, "what are the next steps hosting providers must take to capitalize on the opportunities available in the business?" From the 10,000-foot view, that's the basic premise that underlies just about everything the WHIR publishes or produces. In this particular case, however, we're looking at it through an extremely significant contextual lens. That is, for much of the last two years, hosting providers have been operating in a business climate defined by an economy in crisis.

March 2010 - Web Hosting in Europe
Europe cuts an interesting figure in our coverage of the web hosting industry. From a purely news standpoint, it is very possible to treat Europe in more or less the same way that we treat North America - that is, report the facts, ask the right questions, try to anticipate the issues raised. From an analytical standpoint, however, we present a distinctly North American point of view - this being the product of circumstances (our location), rather than a bias.

January 2010 - Hottest Hosts Directory
In 2008, in our inaugural Hottest Hosts guide, I wrote that we were exploring a new format with the first in-print directory of web hosting services. And last year, I discussed the project in the context of an ongoing project, and a growing tradition here at the Web Host Industry Review. The objective, however, is not to repeat ourselves, but to help the directory evolve into a more valuable resource - something that's going to help you with your purchasing decisions, and something you're going to hold on to for the duration of the year.
