June 18, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Webair (webair.com) announced on Wednesday it is offering its VSYS virtual hosting system, with virtual hosting plans starting at $5.95 per month.
The VSYS virtual hosting system is a unique offering, particularly in a marketplace dominated by few brand name virtualization technologies such as Parallels (parallels.com) Virtuozzo, VMware (vmware.com) and Windows Server Virtualization. These technologies largely power every VPS hosting offering available on the market today.
On its website, Webair says its proprietary VSYS hosting platform offers "security and reliability in a shared hosting environment." While many web hosts will share resources between all of the users making it difficult to properly secure, Webair provides each customer with their own apache instance.
All apache applications and modules traditionally run as this distinct user, reducing the need for complicated security and per-user or per-site configuration mechanisms.
The Unix-based hosting plans offer many features, including 1TB of disk storage and 5TB of monthly bandwidth, a web-based ticket support system, unlimited web based and POP3 email accounts, free weekly backups, free Webair proprietary control panel, a unique IP addresses for $2.49 per IP per month, WUSAGE website statistics and unlimited Mysql databases.
The Webair VSYS virtual hosting system is designed to be scalable for growth, enabling customers to seamlessly add storage, bandwidth, additional IP addresses and other aspects of capacity to their site as their business grows.
"Our technology takes a slightly different approach by assigning each virtual hosting client their own apache instance," says Michael Christopher, president and CEO of Webair. "All apache applications and modules natively run as this distinct user, eliminating the need for complicated security and per-user or per-site configuration mechanisms."
Customers can start with an inexpensive virtual account and later upgrade as their business grows, making use of dedicated servers, load balanced clusters and even CDN hosting with little or no downtime. This flexibility enables customers to keep the same control panel, login/passwords, website paths, software versions and IP address.
