June 11, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center operator and managed IT infrastructure solutions provider Terremark Worldwide (terremark.com) announced on Monday that it will launch the NAP of the Capital Region project at a private ceremony scheduled in Washington DC on June 12.
The NAP of the Capital Region will provide managed services and unparalleled security and connectivity to its customers, fulfilling the company's stated objective to expand in the Washington, D.C. area, says Terremark.
When fully built, the campus will consist of five 50,000 square foot independent data center structures and one 72,000 square foot secure office building. Each structure will be "bunker built" to the highest security standards and will be setback 150 feet from the campus perimeter, meeting government security guidelines, says the company. The first phase of the project is scheduled to open in the June 2008 quarter.
"With a global footprint of data centers across the world servicing more than 850 customers, Terremark is embarking on one of the most innovative data center construction projects in the world," says Manuel D. Medina, chairman of Terremark Worldwide. "The NAP of the Capital Region will serve to meet our existing customers' growing demand and deliver innovative solutions to the private and public sector."
Terremark also recently completed its acquisition of Data Return.
