June 5, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- SnapNames (snapnames.com), an Oversee (oversee.net) domain name aftermarket subsidiary, and domain registrar Register.com (register.com) announced on Thursday that they have renewed their exclusive agreement.

Under the terms of the agreement, domain names registered with Register.com but released by their previous registrants are exclusively offered on the SnapNames auction platform at its website.

"We've been a long-standing partner with SnapNames for aftermarket services," says Register.com CEO Larry Kutscher. "SnapNames was the first company to offer an organized aftermarket platform for buying and selling domain names. It consistently provides excellent service to its partners and customers and has a great reputation for transparency and performance. Because of these factors, we wanted to continue that productive relationship."

Oversee acquired SnapNames last June, and thus expanding its presence in the domain name aftermarket. SnapNames offers thousands of names through its site to a range of buyers, including companies, individuals, investors and brand owners, on a daily basis at multiple price points.

Monte Cahn, recently named as head of Oversee's Aftermarket business unit, says the agreement is another significant step in Oversee's plan to be the industry's premier service provider.

Register.com launched in April several promotions to celebrate National Small Business Week.

In addition to SnapNames, Oversee's Aftermarket division includes domain registrar and domain asset management services company, Moniker.com (moniker.com), which Oversee acquired in January.

More than $2.5 million in premium domain names were purchased during last month's T.R.A.F.F.I.C EAST Live Auction. The auction was hosted by Monker at the Grand Floridian Hotel in Orlando, Florida, and participants could bid in person and remotely through the SnapNames Live online auction platform.
