(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Managed dedicated hosting provider The Planet (www.theplanet.com) announced on Wednesday that it is providing hosting services for management services provider SpeedFC's (www.speedfc.com) IT infrastructure.
The customer win follows the opening of The Planet's new data center in London, UK, which provides tenants with geographic redundancy, enhanced performance and Gigabit connectivity.
The Dallas-based SpeedFC provides customers with a range of end-to-end solutions, including fulfillment, customer care, web development, web hosting and web marketing.
The company also works with their customers' creative departments and agencies to integrate their existing brand identities into a consistent online presence.
Since its inception in 2000, SpeedFC has significantly grown, along with the services it provides.
The company says it eventually realized it had to add hosting services that could support the company's rapid expansion.
According to John DeCaprio, president of SpeedFC Interactive, the company evaluated a number of companies before choosing to go with The Planet.
Speed FC attributes The Planet's "enterprise-quality network and IT infrastructure," as reason for choosing the dedicated managed hosting provider's services.
"As more companies evaluate their IT cap-ex spending, IT infrastructure hosting provides a compelling alternative to the do-it-yourself, go-it-alone approach," says Steve Kahan, vice president of marketing and product management for The Planet. "With a world-class network, enterprise-quality SAS70 Type-II data centers, and around-the-clock support, customers can add servers to their IT infrastructure often in just an hour. In the event of a business spike – or adding new customers to their portfolios – they must take quick action to capture opportunities, which is one of the many benefits of doing business with The Planet."
The Planet showcases SpeedFC in a new customer testimonial video, featuring DeCaprio, which can be found on The Planet website.
In January, The Planet posted another customer testimonial video that features Panacore CEO Perry Berryhill.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
