May 16, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- According to reports issued Friday, Premier Technical Services (pts-usa.com) will be investing $16.5 million to construct three buildings, one of which will be a new data center, in Page County, Virginia.
Though it didn't provide technical specs for the facility, PTS's press release says the data center will incorporate "green design," and that the company plans to apply for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification from the US Green Building Council for the new building.
PTS says it provides technology sales, work-force and systems engineering for federal, state and local governments, contractors, trade associations, the US military and contractors.
According to The Daily News Record (dnronline.com), Page Country competed against locations in a number of different states to become the home of the new facility and beat out bids by communities in Maryland, North Carolina, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
The county also received $300,000 from the Governor's Opportunity Fund to help PTS begin the construction on its facility.
Dave Tong, president and CEO of PTS says he chose to bring the facility to Page County because he wanted to locate the data center, and the company's new headquarters, within a 100-mile radius of Washington, D.C. because of how closely it works with the federal government in computer-systems engineering and technical support.
PTS says construction is planned to begin in July, with a scheduled finishing date of July or August 2010.
Earlier on Friday, data center operator and managed service provider Peak 10 reported it is expanding its Louisville operations by adding a third data center to support the "high demand for the company's services in the region."
