Web Host Sponsors Burger Journey May 12, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Globat (globat.com) announced on Thursday it is sponsoring a family to drive 400 miles to the nearest White-Castle fast-food chain to eat 100 hamburgers each. Inspired by the movie, "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle," the family of three from Schulenburg, Texas apparently wanted to experience the burgers so badly, that they created an auction on eBay to finance their trip to St.Louis, Missouri. The participants, Terri Scott, Kerri Gomez and GW Whitfield, embarked on Tuesday and will be promoting Globat and its marketing Web site DefyingGravity.com by displaying both company logos on their car, wearing temporary Globat tattoos, and handing out Globat t-shits, hats and stickers. "Talk about loving your beef! These three Texans certainly give Harold and Kumar a run for their money," says Ben R. Neumann, president and CEO of Globat. "It is electrifying ideas and events such as this we are happy to get behind to make people see that creativity is still key, and that Web hosting is not as unexciting as it might sound to some folks." Globat has recently jumped on the guerilla-marketing bandwagon and has been launching a wave of similarly "electrifying" marketing stunts to promote its brand, including sponsoring a birth, and tattooing its logo on a man’s head. It says its ultimate goal is to launch at least one special event in each of the 50 states.
