Web Host AIT Launches Wholesale Store

By Justin Lee, May 06, 2009

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider AIT (www.ait.com) announced on Tuesday it is now a national distributor of technology products with the opening of its new AIT Outlet store (www.AIToutlet.com).

The company says its AIT Outlet store offers business and home consumers the ability to "purchase over 25,000 hardware and software products at the lowest prices in the industry."

The launch of the AIT Outlet store arrives at an opportune time, with the recession preventing many small and medium-sized businessesfrom making expensive IT purchases.

All products are new and include the manufacturer's warranty, as well as 24-hour technical support.

AIT also expect to sell to larger companies and government agencies.

"The challenges faced by brick and mortar retail electronics outlets, coupled with the current recession, has led SMB's to use the Internet to glean product information and purchase products on online," says Clarence Briggs, CEO of AIT. "This change in customer preference prompted us open our own web store and offer top of the line products at wholesale, discounted. Now we are a technology product distributor offering over 75,000 products from 200 manufacturers."

The AIT Outlet lets anyone to set up an account, purchase directly for their own use, or buy and resell the brand products and services.

AIT handles the entire process, from taking the order, ensuring full satisfaction and delivering the products to the customer. Customers can track deliveries from origin to destination.

Visitors can search the site and find major manufacturers such as, Acer, HP, Fujitsu, IBM, Cisco, Lenovo, Symantec, Microsoft, Sony, Barracuda, and APC.

AIT provides computer hardware, software, managed and self-managed dedicated hosting, domain name registration, web design, email services and technical training.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
