April 30, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center operator and hosting provider Terremark Worldwide (terremark.com) announced on Wednesday that Blue Dasher Technologies (bluedashertech.com), a company that specializes in 360-degree street-level imaging, has selected Terremark to host its database of high-density geo-coded images of public streets of major metropolitan areas in North America.
With coverage of every public street in the Top 50 US markets planned by the end of the year, Blue Dasher is believed to become one of the world's largest databases at the NAP of the Americas, says Terremark, reaching more than 150 Terabytes.
According to the company's most recent press release, Blue Dasher's advanced solution is part of the "next wave of innovation in mapping and navigation." The company's spherical images and the underlying data are delivered as a GIS platform that is licensed to enhance consumer, commercial, industrial and government applications.
The platform also provides image playback with the exact addresses of buildings and lots, advanced search and routing, and support for embedded multimedia.
"Because we offer high-density photos and routing technology as a hosted solution, it's critical we have a partner that we can rely on to deliver the performance our customer sites need and their users demand," says Michael Reidbord, CEO of Blue Dasher Technologies. "Terremark's track record of supporting leading global Web 2.0 companies and its global data center footprint weighed heavily in our selection of Terremark. Down the road, we anticipate that we'll leverage their facilities in Europe and South America to support our efforts in those regions."
Over the past month, Terremark has signed deals to host management, compliance and security solutions provider Mitratech's TeamConnect Legal solution as well as the Library of Congress' new website.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
