  • By Justin Lee, March 09, 2010

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Construction firm HITT Contracting (www.hitt-gc.com) announced on Monday it has been awarded a GSA contract for the design and construction of a new Tier III data Center to be located at the Denver Federal Center in Lakewood, Colorado.

Led by HITT, the team includes Wisnewski Blair & Associates for Architecture, KTA Group for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineering, Woods Peacock for Structural Engineering, Kimley-Horn and Associates for Civil Engineering, and Schmid & Associates for Fire Protection Engineering.

Once completed, the data center will span about 110,000 square feet on an 11-acre site, consisting of two stories with a mechanical basement.

Designed to meet Tier III requirements, as rated by the Uptime Institute Tier Level Classification System, the building will have redundancy for failure and maintenance and will employ the Performance Optimized Datacenter concept.

The team will begin designing the facility this month with construction scheduled to be completed by October 2011.

The project is funded by the FY2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and is recognized under the GSA Design and Construction Excellence Program.

Founded in 1937, HITT Contracting is a general construction firm that specializes in paint and service, preconstruction, sustainable construction, and subcontractor relations.
