(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Due to growing demand in the nation's capital, data center and managed services provider Hosted Solutions (www.hostedsolutions.com) has expanded its presence in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
US East Coast MSP Hosted Solutions announced Tuesday that its new office will be based in Ashburn, Virginia, and will be headed by Northern Virginia native Phillip Jewell, who has ten years of technology consulting and infrastructure sales experience.
"There has long been a need for a hosting provider in DC that delivers enterprise services at a national level with a localized approach," Jewell said in a statement. "Over the last few years, customers in this area have found us through word of mouth. Now it's time to make sure that everyone in the area evaluating hosting services has the opportunity to work with Hosted Solutions. I look forward to continuing to grow our presence throughout the region."
Raleigh, North Carolina-based Hosted Solutions has forged a number of community ties in the eastern US, having gained many high-profile local clients including the Atlanta Falcons, Peopleclick, and University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Hosted Solutions chief operating officer Chris Turco said the Washington DC market shows a very strong demand for our managed and dedicated hosting offerings. "One of the primary drives for our business in DC is our disaster recovery and replication offerings," Turco said in a statement. "Companies in the DC market need to back up their data outside the region for business continuity purposes. Our Raleigh data center is a perfect location for that -- far enough to meet the DR needs, but very easy to access quickly -- just a short plane ride away."

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
