Apptix Wins 100,000 Seat Hosted Exchange Email Contract

  • By David Hamilton, February 18, 2010

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Apptix (www.apptix.com), a provider of hosted Microsoft Exchange email, Microsoft SharePoint, and business VoIP services, has been awarded a contract to provide standardized email services for more than 100,000 employees of one of the largest US healthcare systems.

According to Apptix's Wednesday announcement, this client will use Apptix's hosted Exchange email and mobility services, as well as email encryption and archiving, and once deployment is complete, Apptix will be clearly positioned as the world's largest provider of hosted Exchange services.

"Our newest client recognized that Apptix's email management experience and robust network will allow them to focus resources on their core mission of providing patient care," Apptix president and chief executive officer David Ehrhardt said in a statement. "Apptix's scalable and flexible email solution has the ability to address the varied needs of their employees at health care facilities across the country while improving productivity and communications. This win is a validation of our work in creating a solution that meets the growing demand from enterprise companies."

Apptix has invested significant resources and effort in transforming its technology infrastructure, product portfolio, and implementation and customer service capabilities to position the company to address the requirements of mid-market and enterprise customers – a quickly growing audience for cloud-based IT services.

Apptix provides hosted business messaging and communications services for companies worldwide. Its hosted offerings include Microsoft Exchange email, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Live Meeting Web conferencing, Microsoft Communicator secure Instant Messaging, VoIP phone service, and online back-up. Apptix also provides fully US-based, 24/7, live customer support with a 100% service level agreement.

Last year, Apptix launched a new, multi-tiered channel partner program, offering new revenue streams and added average revenue per user opportunities for partners referring and reselling Apptix's Hosted Microsoft Exchange, Voice-over-IP and SharePoint services.

I'm a little doubtful of this customer acquisition.  They seem to mention all of the good details except who the actual new customer is.  Does anybody know the healthcare provider is?  Why can't they reveal this?

The customer may not allow them to reveal the name.  It's common  with really large enterprises and activities that they consider "sensitive," like e-mail or IT security.

As one of the competitors to APPTIX I know how exciting it is to grab a large user deal, but 100,000 user hosted exchange is a great deal for APPTIX, especially with it being in the Health Care industry. There are so many security issues and compliance that you have to look into. I wonder if it is a decicated hosted server or if anything special is being done with such a large user base.
