February 15, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Email monitoring system provider WebSitePulse (websitepulse.com) announced that greeting card company Hallmark's website (hallmark.com) was down for a few hours on Thursday while visitors scrambled to get their last-minute Valentine's shopping done online.

According to the monitoring firm, Hallmark.com was working fine up until 8:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. Right around this time, the website stopped responding to most requests and was returning a "Page Not Found" message to all its visitors.

Then at approximately 11:30 a.m. the home page became accessible again and visitors were able to send e-cards, but shopping on the website wasn't available. WebSitePulse believes that the website became available again either because visitor requests dropped down or additional resources were provided to support the website and its infrastructure during the holiday rush.

In November, WebSitePulse reported that retail store Sears' website was completely down for online shoppers on Black Friday.
