February 7, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Switzerland-based telecommunications and IT services provider Swisscom IT Services (swisscom.com/it) announced on Thursday that it is offering virtual private servers and dedicated virtual servers using Parallels Virtuozzo Containers, Parallels Plesk Control Panel and Parallels Business Automation software.

Each Parallels component helps deliver part of Swisscom's optimized computing environment, says the company. Parallels Business Automation software manages ordering, billing, collecting and reporting of server resources. Parallels Plesk Control Panel makes server administration efficient by automating a large number of tasks that enable service providers to reduce operating costs while increasing profitability and customer satisfaction. And Parallels Virtuozzo Containers significantly partition a single Linux or Windows operating system instance into highly efficient and scalable virtual environments.

Just 20 minutes after completing an online order, our customers get full access to their dedicated virtual servers without any manual intervention by our technicians," says Peter von Gunten, product manager, midrange hosting, Swisscom IT Services. Last week, Parallels, formerly known as SWsoft, opened registration for its annual event, Parallels Summit 2008.
