(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Several web hosting sales and promos were announced in the first week of February including a domain discount from Spiral Hosting, a bundle of February promotions from Exabytes, and Webhost.uk.net announced some discounts to go along with its new hosting plan.
Spiral Hosting Cuts Price of Irish .IE Domains
Irish web host Spiral Hosting (www.spiralhosting.com) is offering Irish domains for only €16.99 plus VAT, far cheaper than a direct registration with the .IE registry, which costs €62. The company also offers a free domain name with all of its web hosting packages, whether it's a .ie domain name or any one of 26 other top-level domain extensions including .com .net .eu and .co.uk.
Exabytes Launches February 2010 Promotion
Web host and domain registrar Exabytes Network (www.exabytes.com) has just launched its February 2010 promotion this week. Until February 28, the Malaysian company is offering a $100 one-time discount on its semi-dedicated server plan, as well as a 30 percent off discount on all its shared hosting packages. It is also upping that shared hosting discount to 50 percent between February 15 and 28 for its Twitter followers (twitter.com/exabytes_us).

Technically, there's nothing new about us posing the question, "what are the next steps hosting providers must take to capitalize on the opportunities available in the business?" From the 10,000-foot view, that's the basic premise that underlies just about everything the WHIR publishes or produces. In this particular case, however, we're looking at it through an extremely significant contextual lens. That is, for much of the last two years, hosting providers have been operating in a business climate defined by an economy in crisis.

Europe cuts an interesting figure in our coverage of the web hosting industry. From a purely news standpoint, it is very possible to treat Europe in more or less the same way that we treat North America - that is, report the facts, ask the right questions, try to anticipate the issues raised. From an analytical standpoint, however, we present a distinctly North American point of view - this being the product of circumstances (our location), rather than a bias.
