Telehouse Adds Data Center Routes

February 2, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Telecommunications provider Optical Communications Group announced on Wednesday it has just completed the first of two new diverse dark fiber access routes and entry points into the TELEHOUSE (telehouse.com) data center at The Teleport in Staten Island.

TELEHOUSE says customers, especially those affected by government and industry regulations, will immediately benefit from greater bandwidth diversity, decreased power costs, high-level security and a sizeable data center that lends itself to enterprises with large numbers of servers.

Carriers will have two distinct points of access to Staten Island's fiber routes outside of The Teleport and can connect clients directly to Manhattan's carrier hotels using redundant pathways.

The route is part of a larger plan that will help significantly improve The Teleport and TELEHOUSE's position within the New York metro area's telecom geography. The cooperative initiative is lead by TELEHOUSE, The Port Authority of NY and NJ, OCG and the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation.

On Wednesday, theWHIR reported on TELEHOUSE's efforts to connect with data center operators worldwide to create new peering opportunities.
