January 23, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- IT management software provider SmarterTools (smartertools.com) announced on Wednesday it is offering discounts on all new purchases of its SmarterStats 3.x, to every DeepMetrix (deepmetrix.com) customer.
The acquisition of DeepMetrix by Microsoft has led to support for DeepMetrix Web Log Analytic products being discontinued, effective January 31. SmarterTools says it will take this opportunity to help DeepMetrix customers who are seeking a Web Log Analytics solution.
"SmarterStats is the only established, distributed Web Log Analytics product available on the market today," says Jeff Hardy, VP of SmarterTools. "SmarterStats has become the choice among hosting companies due to its effective integration in all major control panels and wide distribution through our partner network. More importantly, hosting companies are justifiably wary of using services such as GoogleAnalytics and the upcoming Microsoft AdCenter as those companies position themselves to compete in the hosting marketplace."
SmarterStats is designed to enable organizations to stay current with trends and analyze statistics so they can operate their online businesses at full efficiency. The cost-efficient, enterprise-level application includes detailed reports, a distributed architecture (with the Enterprise Edition) and no database requirements.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.

SmarterStats has been great.
We use it to analyze different websites that we either administrate, or help to administrate. The most helpful report has been the visitors by referring sites. This way, we can see where our customers are coming from and how many are coming. This helps to determine a closing ratio depending on the path that they take, which is another report that can be seen, visitor path.
I also keep an eye on the monthly visitors as a whole, so that I can see the trend (hopefully) go up each time. If there is a decrease in traffic from a particular point, then we can correct that with marketing action on or part.
I think that it's way cool that DeepMetrix customers now have a place to go. It's really one of only a handful of products that you would want to use.
