Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.

January 22, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider 1&1 Internet (1and1.com) announced on Tuesday that it has deployed Foundry Networks' (foundrynet.com) NetIron XMR 4000 backbone routers to power its network for scalable growth and to significantly lower capital and operating expenditures.

1&1 says that the company initially installed the NetIron XMR routers in the European part of its backbone and after successful results expanded the installation to the Kansas City metropolitan area network. The routers are also expected provide heightened security and improved performance, says the company.

"The reason for the increasing popularity of 1&1's Web hosting service, besides affordability, is the industry leading performance and reliability. To maintain this advantage, we are constantly implementing technologies to improve our customers' experience," says Andreas Gauger, chairman for 1&1 Internet. "After thoroughly analyzing competing products, we are convinced that Foundry's NetIron XMR Series routers provide us with the upgrade path and feature set that allows future bandwidth growth and a high level of performance."

Earlier this week, 1&1 announced that it has extended its wide area network, bringing the total bandwidth of its data centers in Europe and the United States to more than 120Gbps.
