Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.

January 13, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- During its earnings call held Monday, January 9, publicly traded Web hosting provider Interland (interland.com) told investors that it had acquired approximately 5,400 hosting subscribers from Internet publisher CNET Networks (cnet.com).

Though the company has yet to announce the deal, Interland's CEO Jeffrey M. Stibel discussed the acquisition during a telephone conversation with the Web Host Industry Review.

"We had a business transaction with CNET Networks," says Stibel, "that included CNET Advantage, CNET SiteBuilder and ZDNet SiteBuilder customers that are going to elect to migrate onto Interland's hosting platform."

According to Stibel, the CNET customers fell mostly into the consumer end of the hosting market, so the deal should bolster the company's more consumer-focused efforts, including the Web.com business Interland acquired for approximately $4.4 million in December.

"The important thing to note," he says, "is that we expect that this deal will be accretive within about three months."
