(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Content delivery network provider CDNetworks (www.cdnetworks.com) and content protection platform provider Widevine Technologies (www.widevine.com) announced on Monday they have signed a partnership to deliver secure Internet video experiences to global customers . 

By combining CDNetworks' content delivery services with Widevine's DRM solution, which simultaneously secures content delivered in multiple formats including Microsoft Windows Media, Adobe Flash and the Microsoft Silverlight platform.

CDNetworks has made several key announcements in recent months. Most recently, the company announced in October that Comflix Studios has selected it as its official CDN for its comic book inspired network, SPLASTK.

Just a month prior, CDNetworks joined the DE-CIX exchange at Equinix, providing CDNetworks and other DE-CIX customers access to Equinix's colocation services.

Through the partnership, CDNetworks and Widevine say they will "address the needs of major media companies, niche content providers and e-learning companies that require content security to monetize their assets in a cross platform manner." 

Widevine's multiplatform, multiformat DRM is designed to securely distribute, store and control playback of monetized digital media to any Internet-enabled consumer device, as well as digital copy protection and forensic watermarking solutions.

The company offers the DRM technology to over 140 service providers and 160 web properties, including Warner Bros.' Latin American portal, www.wbla.com' Gaia Online's Flash-based video portal delivering Warner Bros.' and Sony Pictures' content; and CinemaNow, which offers high quality movies and TV shows to PCs and Internet-enabled Blu-ray platforms.

Meanwhile, CDNetworks provides content delivery technology and services to over 1,000 customers worldwide in the gaming, retail, media and entertainment and technology sectors, including testing and deploying advancements in video streaming with Adobe Flash Media Server 3 and 3.5. 

The company has a range of US customers, including Lycos Cinema Social Viewing Experience and Jaman Online Cinema, as well as many customers in the Asia e-learning sector.
