The Planet Deploys Lantronix Solution
Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.
January 11, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Device networking technology provider Lantronix (lantronix.com) announced on Thursday that dedicated hosting provider The Planet has selected Lantronix SecureLinx Spider to address customer needs for KVP-over-IP management of its servers.
Responding to customer requests for a remote KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) solution, The Planet says it looked to Lantronix Spider to meet its specific needs for an affordable, single-port device.
In hosting environments equipped with a broad range of servers, it is often difficult to separate individual customer ports to diagnose a problem over the network. With Spider, The Planet is now able to add remote IT users one server port at a time, providing a cost-effective and scalable solution for its customers. The KVM solution also provides hands-on access to remotely diagnose attached servers, install software and files using virtual media tools, and virtually manage everything from the operating system up from one central location.
"Lantronix enabled us to meet our customers' requirements with its single-port offering," says Aaron Conklin, product manager for The Planet. "Spider has allowed us to significantly scale the amount of equipment we can monitor at once, which provides our customers with the remote management capabilities that helps ensure their assets are constantly up and running. Overall, Spider was an ideal fit."
Last month, The Planet expanded its KVM-over-IP offering across its range of servers and in each of its six data centers.
