August 25, 2011 — Web hosting provider Dynadot complied with an order to hand over information about its client WikiLeaks, according to a tweet from the whistleblowing organization on Wednesday. The California-based web host received a court order to produce information on Julian Assange under the PATRIOT Act, according to a report by Bloomberg.

May 30, 2011 — A group of hackers upset by a recent PBS Frontline documentary about WikiLeaks breached the website’s servers Sunday and posted thousands of compromised passwords as well as a bogus news article on the show’s blog. Hacking group LulzSec claimed responsibility on its Twitter page for posting a fake news story that claimed that slain rappers Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. had both been discovered “alive and well” in New Zealand.

February 7, 2011 — The pro-WikiLeaks hacker group Anonymous has reportedly “unplugged” HBGary from the Internet after the hackers compromised the security firm’s network over the weekend, accessing about 50,000 corporate emails and private information, according to a report by SC Magazine.

February 3, 2011 — Internet security firm Renesys reported on its blog that Egyptian Internet providers came back online Thursday at 11:29 a.m. local time. Egypt’s four main ISPs – Link Egypt, Vodafone/Raya, Telecom Egypt and Etisalat Misr — were  simultaneously cut on January 28 just after midnight, rendering more than 88 percent of Egyptian Internet in Egypt.

The move is the latest in a series of attacks organized by the group, which is comprised of volunteers who install and run the Low Orbit Ion Cannon software to overwhelm a website with a large volume of traffic.
