Traffic Flood Slows Apple Web Site
January 12, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- According to a report released Tuesday by Internet performance monitoring firm Netcraft (netcraft.com) a flood of traffic slowed the performance of Apple's Web site yesterday following the release of the company's new Mac Mini and iPod Shuffle products at the MacWorld Expo conference in San Francisco.
Netcraft Rates Web Hosting Reliability
January 6, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Datapipe (datapipe.com) had the most reliable Web site in the second half of 2004, according to research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com). Datapipe was one of six companies that did not record any downtime. The other five, in order of reliability, were Pair Networks (pair.com), New York Internet (nyi.net), Myhosting.com (myhosting.com), Rackspace Managed Hosting (rackspace.com) and iPowerWeb (ipowerweb.com). Kattare (katarre.com), Schlund (schlund.de) and Netcetera (netcetera.co.uk) were the seven to ninth most reliable sites, according to Netcraft, while Interland (interland.com), Energis (energis.com) and 1&1 Internet (oneandone.com) rounded out the top 12.

Traffic Surge Slows Down SEC Web Site
Keynote's data showed that between 2:30 and 3:30 eastern time last Thursday, the SEC home page took up to 45 seconds to load. The SEC?s home page typically loads in approximately 4 seconds. During this hour, the success rate for downloading the home page dropped to 20 percent, significantly lower than the normal rate of 100 percent.

According to Netcraft's research, both INetU and Secure Dog were faultless during January and did not have any failed requests. For INetU, it was the second month of having no failed requests.
Netcraft Calls IP Exchange Fastest Growing
According to Netcraft, German-based IP Exchange grew by 352 percent, adding 218,117 hostnames between December 2002 and December 2003. Hurricane Electric followed with 198 percent growth, while iPowerWeb grew 196 percent. GoDaddy, EV1Servers and Net@access occupied positions 4-6 with Agarik/Amen, Yahoo, Hostway and Burstnet rounding out the top 10.

According to Netcraft's research, which covered the last six months of 2003, only three hosting company sites incurred as much as a single day's downtime and five hosting providers went through the entire six-month period having experienced no power outages at all.
