May 20, 2009 — “Computing-as-a-service” provider Rackspace Hosting has unveiled a major release of its business-class hosted email offering, Rackspace Email 7.0, making it a viable alternative to Microsoft Exchange at a tenth of its price.
March 4, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Email service provider runbox.com (runbox.com) said on Friday that it had launched email hosting on the runbox.com email platform, enabling small and mid-size businesses to provide their employees with premium email under their own domain.
July 13, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to reports, Internet portal Yahoo (yahoo.com) has acquired OddPost (oddpost.com), a Web-based email service. Financial terms of the deal were not made available.
May 14, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to reports, Yahoo (yahoo.com) said on Thursday that it plans to dramatically increase the storage limits for its free email users while raising the limits for its premium email subscribers up to “virtually unlimited” capacity.
The company says it is offering both POP3 and Webmail access to the email accounts. The Web-based mail will include banner advertising and 100 MB of Web hosting space. An annual free of $20 will remove the advertising and increase the amount of hosting space, Spymac said.
