Telecom Italia Moves to Equinix New York IDC

December 16, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Equinix, Inc. (equinix.com), a provider or network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, announced on Monday that Telecom Italia Sparkle (www.tisparkle.it), a subsidiary of Telecom Italia SpA (telecomitalia.it), has deployed its network in Equinix’s Internet Business Exchange (IBX) center in New York. Equinix says the move will allow Telecom Italia Sparkle to directly connect to the large aggregation of networks, carriers and ISPs that operate out of its IBX facilities. Networking through a central switching fabric, added Equinix, will allow Telecom Italia Sparkle to reduce the cost of connecting with partners it has previously connected with via multiple and disparate locations.
