Peer 1 Announces Private Placement
March 18, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Internet bandwidth, colocation and Web hosting provider Peer 1 Network (peer1.net) announced this week that it made a private placement of up to 5 million shares priced at $0.28 per common share.
TechSpace Buys E-commerce Gateway
March 15, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting and IT infrastructure services provider TechSpace (techspace.com) announced on Tuesday that it had acquired the Web hosting, dedicated server and colocation customers of E-commerce Gateway. California-based TechSpace picks up 21,000 business-class user accounts and over 500 Web sites. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Qwest Still in Running to Acquire MCI
March 4, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Qwest Communications (qwest.com) is still in the running to acquire MCI (mci.com) after MCI and Verizon (verizon.com) agreed on Wednesday that MCI could consider Qwest's sweetened deal, which is reportedly worth $8 billion.
Omega Continues Web Hosting Buys
March 3, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Omega Communications (omegacomminc.com), a Connecticut-based Internet service provider, said on Thursday that it successfully acquired two Web hosting companies in 2004 and plans to continue buying small to mid-size Web hosts in 2005.

February 14, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Verizon Communications (verizon.com) announced on Monday that it has acquired MCI (mci.com) for $4.8 billion in equity and $488 million in cash, confirming reports that emerged late last Friday.

Red Hat Opens Netscape Directory Server
January 10, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- According to reports released Monday, Linux vendor Red Hat (redhat.com) is planning to release Netscape's Directory Server to the open source community, which may improve scalability to current open source lightweight directory access protocol offerings, according to a developer for the Linux distributor.
Switch and Data Acquires LayerOne
January 10, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center operator Switch and Data (switchanddata.com) announced on Monday it has completed the acquisition of Dallas-based LayerOne (layerone.com), which operates three data centers in Dallas, Miami and Chicago with network interconnection hubs in Los Angeles and New York.

Terremark Purchases TECOTA
January 4, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Terremark Worldwide, Inc (terremark.com), a provider of integrated tier-1 Internet exchanges and network services, announced on Monday that it has acquired from its partners all of the equity interests not owned by it in the entity that owns the Technology Center of the Americas, home of Terremark's flagship NAP of the Americas. Under the acquisition terms, Terremark paid $40 million for the equity interests in Technology Center of the Americas, LLC and repaid $35 million in debt.
Peer 1 Withdraws Private Placement
December 15, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Peer 1 Network (peer1.net), a provider of bandwidth, server location and dedicated Web hosting, announced late last week that it has withdrawn the private placement it announced on October 12, 2004 and amended on October 22, 2004.
U.S. NetworX acquires Turnkey
December 14, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- E-business service provider U.S. NetworX (usnx.com) announced on Monday it has acquired Turnkey Hosting (turnkeyresellers.com), a Louisville, Kentucky-based Web site development and hosting company. Turnkey will maintain its own identity while operating as a distinct unit of U.S. NetworX.
ServerVault Names VP and CTO
December 10, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider ServerVault Corp. (servervault.com) announced on Wednesday that it had appointed John Curran to the position of vice president and chief technology officer. Curran will oversee ServerVault's technical products, services, and infrastructure strategy and roadmap.
NaviSite to Resell PeopleSoft Apps
December 8, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting and managed application services provider NaviSite (navisite.com) announced on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with PeopleSoft (peoplesoft.com) to sell its PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne and PeopleSoft World software packages to companies with revenues under $100 million. EnterpriseOne is a suite of Web-based business and productivity applications. PeopleSoft World is an enterprise software solution for the IBM iSeries platform.
Opsware Acquires Rendition Networks
December 3, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center automation software developer Opsware (opsware.com) said on Thursday that it has signed an agreement to acquire Rendition Networks (rendition.com), a developer of network device automation software, for $33 million, a sum that includes $15 million in cash and about 2.68 million shares of Opsware common stock.

November 18, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- SunGard Availability Services (availability.sungard.com), a provider of information availability services and subsidiary of SunGard (sungard.com), a developer of software and business continuity solutions for the financial services industry, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Colorado-based Inflow (inflow.com), a provider of Web hosting, colocation and IT outsourcing services.
Peer 1 Sets Up Network in London
November 17, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Peer 1 Network (peer1.net), a bandwidth, colocation and Web hosting provider, announced on Tuesday that it has opened its first European network point of presence in Telehouse's Coriander data center in London, England. The London network POP connects Peer 1 to the London Internet Exchange, providing access to the majority of Europe's carriers.
Via Net.Works Appoints CFO
November 10, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting and communications provider VIA NET.WORKS, Inc. (vianetworks.com), announced on Tuesday that it had appointed Cameron Mackenzie its chief financial officer.
Web Host Peak10 Acquires Xodiax
November 5, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center operator Peak 10 Inc. (peak10.com) announced on Thursday that it had acquired Xodiax, a Louisville, Kentucky-based provider of managed services, colocation, hosting and connectivity. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Teros Appoints VP of Marketing
November 5, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Teros (teros.com), a developer of application security solutions, announced on Thursday that it has appointed David Jevans as senior vice president of marketing. Jevans will be responsible for all marketing functions at Teros, including corporate positioning, product branding and public relations.
Rackspace Acquires New Data Center
October 25, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Rackspace Managed Hosting (rackspace.com) announced on Monday that it has acquired a 55,000 square foot data center facility in Grapevine, Texas. Rackspace said the newly acquired facility, its fifth, doubles the company's data center capacity and provides additional geographic redundancy. The company said it now has more than 20,000 new servers to accomodate the company's rapid growth.
Spiderhost Adds Four New Clients
October 22, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Internet service provider and Web host Spiderhost (spiderhost.com) announced on Friday that it has signed four new clients. The Kennedy Space Center, Panera Bread, Georgia Tech University and The GTU Research Institute, and the United States Navy are all using Spiderhost's suite of comprehensive data connectivity, managed services and Web site hosting and development services.
Tatung Launches Server Brand
October 7, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Tatung (tatung.com), a Taiwanese electronics company, has announced the launch of its own brand, Tatung Server.
Peer 1 Acquires ServerBeach
October 5, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Canadian Internet bandwidth and colocation provider Peer 1 Network (peer1.net) announced on Tuesday that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire all of the assets of Web hosting provider ServerBeach (serverbeach.com) for $7 million US in cash. The acquired assets include over 4,200 dedicated hosting customers and a data center facility based in San Antonio, Texas.
Red Hat Acquires Netscape Server
September 30, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- According to reports released Thursday, Linux distributor Red Hat (redhat.com) has agreed to pay $20.5 million in cash to acquire certain Netscape assets from America Online.
Web Host Plus Touts Two Acquisitions
September 29, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Web Host Plus (webhostplus.com) announced on Wednesday that it had made two new acquisitions, bringing the company's total number of acquisitions to 12 since January of this year.
