Web Host Rackspace Offers Cloud DNS Beta to UK and US Customers

July 8, 2011 — Web hosting provider Rackspace announced on Thursday that it has launched its Rackspace Cloud DNS beta to all UK and US cloud customers, according to a blog post on its website. Last week, Amazon Web Services expanded its DNS service Route 53 edge with new locations in Stockholm, Sweden. AWS’ DNS service launched late last year.

Web Host Rackspace Adds Managed Support to UK Cloud Service

May 26, 2011 – Web hosting provider Rackspace Hosting announced on Thursday that it has added managed support to its UK cloud service. This announcement comes two days after Rackspace launched its hosted virtual desktop platform. According to the press release, Rackspace will now provide its UK cloud customers with 24×7 managed services including monitoring and troubleshooting support and competitive SLAs.

Netcraft Rates Web Hosting Reliability

January 6, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Datapipe (datapipe.com) had the most reliable Web site in the second half of 2004, according to research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com). Datapipe was one of six companies that did not record any downtime. The other five, in order of reliability, were Pair Networks (pair.com), New York Internet (nyi.net), Myhosting.com (myhosting.com), Rackspace Managed Hosting (rackspace.com) and iPowerWeb (ipowerweb.com). Kattare (katarre.com), Schlund (schlund.de) and Netcetera (netcetera.co.uk) were the seven to ninth most reliable sites, according to Netcraft, while Interland (interland.com), Energis (energis.com) and 1&1 Internet (oneandone.com) rounded out the top 12.

Rackspace Connects to AboveNet

July 13, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet access provider AboveNet Communications UK (above.net) announced on Tuesday that it has signed a contract with Rackspace Managed Hosting (rackspace.com) for two diversely routed 1GB wavelengths and IP transit in excess of 100MB. The diversely routed 1 GB wavelengths will connect Rackspace from IX Europe’s (ixeurope.com) London West facility in Heathrow to Telehouse (telehouse.com) in the Docklands. The wavelengths will be provided over AboveNet’s new London DWDM network and provisioned across completely separate routes in order to enhance the redundancy, speed and quality of their existing network, the company said. Rackspace will also connect to the AboveNet global IP backbone via Gigabit-Ethernet connectivity.

Rackspace Hosting for WebtrafficIQ

The partnership, according to the announcement, was prompted by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) renewal of its Web analytics contract with WebtrafficIQ. RICS said its high levels of traffic necessitated a dedicated and flexible service.
