Symantec Takes 65 Percent of EV SSL Market Share in Netcraft Report

January 9, 2012 — Security provider Symantec announced on Monday that it achieved the largest overall SSL certificate growth, with gain of 10,400 total certificates, according to the January 2012 Netcraft survey. According to the survey, Symantec leads the EV SSL market with a market share of 40.02 percent.

January 3, 2012 — Web analytics firm Netcraft released the results of its January 2012 web server survey, and for the third month in a row, Apache has gained the most hostnames. Netcraft’s January survey saw responses from 582,716,657 sites, an increase of 4.9 percent or 27.7 million sites from December’s survey.

Perhaps somewhat surprising is that Rackspace, which was the most reliable host in October, was nowhere to be found on the list.
