October 24, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web server and infrastructure solution developer Zeus Technology (Zeus.com) announced on Wednesday that it has released Zeus Load Balancer 1.6, the company?s next generation software load balancer and traffic manager.
Zeus says version 1.6 builds on the traffic management capabilities of previous versions of the Load Balancer and illustrates the company?s commitment to providing Internet traffic management solutions.
The load balancer?s recent releases, says Zeus, have focused on easing the deployment and administration of traffic management technology. The releases have included updated user interfaces, improved diagnostics and revised documentation and key new technology.
Zeus says new and existing users inspired many of the 1.6 release?s new features, which include automatic session persistence; port mapping; FTP Load Balancing; Connection Draining; and Connection Limiting.
"Load Balancing has traditionally been thought of as a hardware application." said John Paterson, Zeus CEO, "but with the increase in performance and lower price of standard server hardware, load balancing can now be delivered by software, allowing far greater functionality and more flexible deployment options than from a hard-wired, dedicated box."
