March 31, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- AT&T (att.com) announced on Thursday it has signed a three-year, $1.4 million contract with programmable logic devices developer Xilinx Inc. (xilinx.com) to host and manage the company's Web site. The contract expands an existing agreement of the past eight years in which AT&T has provided Xilinx with comprehensive voice and data services.
The site includes an online store and provides visitors with a number of options, including signing up for educational courses, accessing online support services, searching online software manuals and user guides, and reviewing information on Xilinx products and services.
"At Xilinx we rely on AT&T's expertise in managed services to allow us to respond quickly to the ever-changing demands of running an Internet site," says Gerry Glaser, IT specialist at Xilinx. "Leveraging their knowledge in networks, security, operations, and applications makes it is possible for us to adopt best practices more rapidly helping us to succeed in the marketplace."
AT&T also announced that it would conduct a Network Disaster Recovery exercise, performed several times a year, at its Bedminster, New Jersey facilities on April 5, 2005. Twenty-three self-contained equipment trucks and AT&T's Global Network Operations Center will be used to test and evaluate how well the company can respond to a natural or man-made disaster.
