July 15, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Verio (verio.com) announced Monday that it is joining forces with NBC Sports and GolfServ to sponsor the American Century Championship, a celebrity golf championship to be broadcast live on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20.
GolfServ, a provider of online golf content, will provide breaking news stories and real-time scoring updates from the event through its Web site Golf.com.
NTT/VERIO Managed Hosting will provide the site with a complete Web hosting and firewall solution, as well as a newly-implemented NTT/VERIO Smart Content Delivery (SCD), a caching solution that further enhances the performance of Web sites.
The site is expecting 500,000 users to log on during the championship.
