December 2, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Intelligent routing control solution developer netVmg (netVmg.com) announced on Monday that Web hosting and colocation provider Ventures Online has purchased netVmg?s Flow Control Platform to expand its hosting services.
netVmg says its FCP ensures business continuity by enabling service providers to control traffic for quality while reducing cost and delivering a higher quality of service. The intelligent route control allows customers to leverage multiple service providers to ensure the performance of Internet connections and achieve private network quality. The FCP enables predictable performance, visibility and policy-based controls at the lowest network cost by intelligently routing traffic among multiple internet service provider connections to meet customer-defined cost or performance policies.
?The benefits that customers derive from using this type of product,? says senior VP of marketing and business development Eric Wolford, ?is first and foremost they get this insurance policy, or this business continuity, for their Internet traffic, so that it's always working even though the internet is sometimes unpredictable.?
With the FCP, says Wolford, Ventures Online customers are assured consistent, predictable performance, even through Internet outages and brownouts. The FCP also gives the company an in-depth view of network health and usage statistics, allowing it to improve the quality of its service.
"We are very excited about ventures online,? he says, ?which is a very large data center that ships out, on its customers' behalf, hundreds of megabits per second of traffic. Basically what this customer was looking for was the ability to control that traffic so that its customers have uninterrupted service regardless of the hiccups of the Internet. And they wanted to be able to take advantage of a variety of carrier relationships so that their costs are minimized.?
