January 26, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Riverhead Networks (riverhead.com), a provider of intrusion detection and mitigation solutions for service providers and large enterprises, unveiled the Riverhead Guard XT and Riverhead Detector XT on Monday, its next-generation series of solutions for defense against DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks.
According to Riverhead, the Guard XT and Detector XT work in tandem, applying technologies and algorithms based on Riverhead's Multi-Verification Process (MVP) architecture to identify and remove malicious packet flows while allowing legitimate transactions to pass.
The company said Guard XT and Detector XT are also capable of protecting networks against Zombie attackers, one of the most prevalent and difficult-to-stop DDoS attacks. The solutions combine high performance levels with new Zombie Killer technologies that the company says is capable of identifying and blocking hundreds of thousands of Zombie attackers.
Texas' Rackspace Managed Hosting has adopted Riverhead's XT products.
"For Rackspace, it is absolutely critical that we detect and block all types of DDoS attacks for our PrevenTier managed service customers," says Paul Froutan, vice president of engineering for Rackspace Managed Hosting. "Because attacks are constantly changing and evolving, we need a solution that allows us to keep pace and defeat the latest and largest-scale attacks. Riverhead Networks has consistently demonstrated its ability to anticipate attack trends and deliver solutions that address those trends. With the XT products in place, Rackspace is well-prepared to meet the growing DDoS challenge, which allows us to continue delivering the superior service for which we are known."
The XT solutions also include monitoring and reporting capabilities.
