August 10, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Red Hat (redhat.com) and Hewlett-Packard (hp.com) announced on Tuesday at the LinuxWorld conference that they had introduced a software bundle for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux and HP BladeSystem Environment.
The bundle is available to customers purchasing an HP BladeSystem infrastructure. According to the companies, Red Hat Network products will be offered with a HP BladeSystem toolkit and Red Hat Global File System will be available with HP Serviceguard for Linux. The bundle also includes HP tools to simplify deployment of multiple server blades within a blade enclosure, while the HP BladeSystem toolkit includes automatic detection and configuration tools supporting HP ProLiant remote management technology.
The companies say the bundle eases the deployment of multiple servers within HP BladeSystem enclosures
"Customers use Linux today for the flexibility and control of open source. As a solution platform, customers are utilizing HP BladeSystem for its efficient, modular and integrated infrastructure," says Rick Becker, vice president and general manager for BladeSystem at HP. "HP is proud to be the first to partner with Red Hat to offer a bundled Linux solution for blades - a winning combination of two technologies that deliver flexibility, performance and savings across the data center."
