June 17, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Automated Web hosting software developer Plesk Inc. (Plesk.com) announced on Monday that it is introducing an introductory promotion for the upcoming release of its Plesk Server Administrator version 5.0 Master. The new product will include a single-console interface designed to consolidate and automate the management of Linux and Unix servers running hosting plans.
According to Plesk, hosting professionals who purchase PSA 2.5 before June 30 will receive a free 10-server key of PSA 5.0 Master, a list price of $199, which is scheduled for release in early September.
The PSA 5.0 Master solution, says Plesk, allows administrators, hosting providers, resellers or domain owners to manage an unlimited number of hosting plan templates from a single server.
"We are planning to come out with an enterprise platform later in the year," says Plesk president and CEO George Pappas, "But the key news here is that this master functionality represents an intermediate step, which is important because we have many customers now who have hundreds of servers running PSA. This additional feature means that they'll be able to have the benefits of managing multiple servers without having to make an additional investment in an enterprise product."
PSA 5.0 Master will offer hosting providers a number of new features, including custom interface skin and new-button creation, limitless custom plan creation, a multi-server management console, multi-system monitoring and server reseller hosting.
Pappas says the solution is designed to deliver the smoothest possible transition to a centralized management system. "It's a less disruptive change for them," he says. "It's a very easy change they can take advantage of quickly."
Along with the 10-key version, PSA 5.0 Master will be available in a 25-server version for $399 and a 50-server version for $599.
"This is really another step," says Pappas, "in our ongoing committment to thinking through how our customers' needs evolve as they use more and more of our products."
