July 29, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com) announced on Thursday that it has launched an "E-Queen" promotion on the nationally syndicated morning radio show, Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, in search of America's next female Internet business sensation.
The winner will be awarded all the tools to start her own online business, including free hosting for a year and $10,000 in start-up cash from The Planet.
"We love to see our customers succeed and if we can help someone get their business started, that's even better," says Kristin Herring, director of marketing for The Planet. "Today, online businesses can be very lucrative and we're excited to provide an opportunity for a deserving woman to begin the opportunity of a lifetime."
Women with a great idea for an online business can submit a brief proposal to equeen@theplanet.com. Five final contestants will be chosen and eventually be narrowed down to two, handpicked by Mark Cuban, during a live broadcast mid-August. The two finalists will then be asked to prepare their online business in just five days.
The Planet will help the finalists design and host their Web sites, and set-up their merchant accounts and database management system. The contestants will also receive on-air mentions and promotions of their business on Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. At the end of seven days, the contestant with the most successful business will win the contest and prizes. The winner will be announced at the end of August.
