March 28, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Optimize Hosting Technology (optimizehosting.com), a developer of technology for Web hosting providers, announced last week that it had launched Online Website Compressor, a software that uses compressing technology to reduce the file size of images, HTML and text files on servers.
The company says the solution ultimately results in increased Web site download time and savings in bandwidth and server space usage. In shared hosting environments, this enables more clients to be accommodated per server, while larger e-commerce sites running on dedicated servers will enjoy significant resource savings because of the quantity of images and graphics these sites typically carry. Roderick Coleman, owner of Optimize Hosting Technology, says savings can run up to nearly 50 percent for some of the larger e-commerce sites.
"Our new software utilizes advanced image compression technology allowing server providers, webmasters, and Web site owners the opportunity to save bandwidth and server space," says Coleman. "The beauty of the technology is that it allows images, as well as HTML and text to be compressed. That's where we differ from the competition, and how our software users can really benefit. Server providers will be pleased, as their clients' Web sites load much faster, and they can monitor, through detailed statistics, how much space and bandwidth they are actually saving. It could prove to be a valuable tool that they can offer free to clients as part of their hosting packages."
