August 24, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Opsware Inc. (opsware.com), a provider of data center management solutons, announced on Tuesday that it had signed a $50 million contract with tech giant EDS, extending the existing relationship between the companies.
Under the agreement terms, Opsware will continue to automate data center functions at EDS, which manages technology for other companies.
Based in Sunnyvale, California, Opsware said the new agreement is a continuation of an initial contract valued at $52 million that was signed in June 2002. The new contract takes effect in August 2005 after its predecessor expires, and will run until March 2008.
Opsware products automate migration, recovery and configuration of information installed on big computers. Also, under the agreement terms, Piano, Texas-based EDS has the option of renewing the contract each year at an annual cost of $19 million for five years until 2013.
