June 2, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Upon completing their 2004 Service Enabling Technology study for the managed services and IT outsourcing industry collaborative study, industry organization the MSPAlliance (mspalliance.com) and research and consulting firm THINKstrategies (thinkstrategies.com) announced on Wednesday that they expect spending on service enabling technologies to increase.
The project found the managed service providers are planning to increase new service enabling technologies to better serve their customers and manage their businesses. The MSPs participating in the MSPAlliance/THINKstrategies survey reported plans to spend more than one-fifth of their total operating budget (21.7 percent) on new service enabling technology in 2004, an increase from 2003's 17.5 percent.
In spite of this, the study also found MSPs are generally neutral rather than truly satisfied with their current service enabling technology supplier, while some are unsure as to whether they will stay with their current suppliers.
The MSPAlliance and THINKstrategies collaborated in 2003 to produce a landmark Benchmark Study of the managed services industry, which saw a 50 percent growth in revenue and nearly 25 percent expansion in customers of the fifty MSP surveyed. By initiating this new joint study, the MSPAlliance and THINKstrategies would learn what service enabling technologies are likely to be purchased and deployed by MSPs in 2004.
