August 22, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Content delivery network operator Mirror Image (mirror-image.com) announced on Monday that research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com) is using its content distribution and caching services to accelerate communication between the Netcraft toolbar and Netcraft's servers.
Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.
Netcraft says Mirror Image's network enables it to significantly improve and add consistency to response times. "The toolbar's response time, as measured by our monitors in seven data centers, had been averaging 0.29 seconds," says Mike Prettejohn, director for Necraft. "The shift to Mirror Image has accelerated performance, reducing the toolbar's average response time to 0.12 seconds, with reductions of between 47 and 74 percent from various points around the globe."
The Netcraft toolbar defends its community of users against phishing frauds. Recipients of phishing scams report the URL and the toolbar then blocks users who subsequently access the URL.
"The deployment of Mirror Image's global caching system brings faster and more consistent response times to people using the Netcraft Anti-Phishing Toolbar throughout the world," says John Rozen, chief operating officer at Mirror Image. "In addition, it helps Netcraft smoothly scale the toolbar system, as the number of users has grown significantly since the release of the Firefox version of the toolbar in May 2005."
