MFN Extends Site Operations Platform to Customer-Owned IDCs
November 13, 2001 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Metromedia Fiber Network, Inc. (mfn.com), a leading provider of digital communications infrastructure solutions, has expanded its relationship with VERITAS Software Corp. (veritas.com), a leading software storage
company, to provide Internet infrastructure managed services within VERITAS
Software's own data center environment.
The relationship with VERITAS Software demonstrates MFN's ability to
successfully offer the Site Operations Platform (SOP) within an enterprise
data center as well as an off-site co-location facility.
In March 2000, VERITAS Software selected SiteSmith as its managed service
provider at its third party co-location facility. MFN acquired SiteSmith in
February 2001. Shortly after, VERITAS Software made the strategic decision
to move its data center operations in-house and extended its business
relationship with MFN.
Under the new agreement, MFN assists VERITAS Software in the deployment of
its re-architected e-business environment in its new data center. MFN also
provides ongoing managed services for the company's external Web site
through its Site Operations Platform (SOP).
MFN's award-winning SOP is a comprehensive managed services solution
designed to deliver a reliable, scalable, secure and high-performing
Internet infrastructure for running mission-critical applications. The
solution combines all of the infrastructure elements in creating and
maintaining a world-class Internet presence, all at a fixed monthly fee.
"MFN delivers infrastructure managed services regardless of location," said
Greg Valdez, vice president and chief information officer, VERITAS Software.
"With MFN's assistance, we are confident that our external Web site is high
performing, secure and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, freeing
up our internal technical staff to focus on new projects. They work
excellently as a member of the team."
"MFN is pleased that our relationship with VERITAS continues to grow," said
Mark Spagnolo, president and chief operating officer of MFN. "This agreement
demonstrates MFN's commitment and ability to offer our superior managed
services solution within customer-owned data centers, third-party facilities
and MFN's state-of-the-art data centers."
