April 5, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- The Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers (icann.org) said on Monday its 22nd international public meeting will take place April 4 to 8 in Mar del Plata, Argentina, as an essential part of its global consensus-development and outreach efforts.
ICANN says its agenda for open participatory meetings addresses issues concerning Internet stakeholders. Those issues include DNS Security, domain name hijacking, the World Summit on Information Society, regional at-large meetings with user groups from across Latin America, whois policy development and deployment of internationalised domain names.

The public meeting of ICANN's International board of directors, hosted by CABASE, will take place Friday April 8, 2005. Addressing these meetings will be CABASE president Patricio Seoane, and Arquitecto Daniel Katz, Sr. Intendente de la Ciudad de Mar del Plata, who will officially open the ICANN meeting.
Among the topics the ICANN board will review are AfriNIC's application for recognition as regional Internet registry, corporate governance principles and guidelines, IANA policy for allocation of IPv4 blocks to regional Internet registries, the designation of new sponsored top-level domains, proposed change to ICANN bylaws regarding new ASO MoU, proposed change to ICANN bylaws and the number of GNSO council representatives.
