Of the top 100 outsourcing contracts signed in Europe, the company said, IBM accounted for an aggregate total of $13.3 billion.
IBM said it had particular success at high end of the outsourcing segment, winning four of the six "megadeals" ($1 billion or more) listed in the IDC report. "If the likes of IBM Global Services are going to continue snapping up the majority of very large deals (as it did in 2002) smaller players must reexamine their propositions to clients," the report said.
Gartner also said IBM captured 11 of the top 100 outsourcing deals in Europe last year, which was more than any competitor.
IBM said a key component to its outsourcing wins was its IBM On Demand services, which allow companies to improve their responses to unpredictable changes in supply, demand and other variables.
