October 20, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Domain registrar and Web hosting provider Go Daddy (godaddy.com) announced on Thursday the introduction of a new domain appraisal service.
The Express version of the service, priced at $9.95 per domain, completes domain appraisals within two hours. Top-level domain, length, number of words, number of hyphens, numeric characters and desirability are the six factors evaluated and processed through Go Daddy's proprietary ratings algorithm.
The Certified version, priced at $19.95 per domain, finishes appraisals within two business days. They are calculated on the basis of the same six factors, but are also evaluated by Go Daddy analysts, who consider market trends and other qualitative factors to assess value. Customers also receive an appraisal certificate with the date, price and an explanation of the assessment. Domains with appraisal certificates are specially marked when listed on Go Daddy?s domain market place.
"Domain Appraisal is clearly a service whose time has come," says Bob Parsons, president and founder of Go Daddy. "Numerous customers told us they were interested in either buying or selling domains on The Domain Name Aftermarket, but simply had no idea as to how to determine the domain's market value. So we went to work to develop a comprehensive domain appraisal service that was based on a set of weighted factors and industry expertise - and backed by the Go Daddy name."
