June 13, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Globix Corporation (globix.com) yesterday announced a program aimed at easing the transition of customer equipment and accounts from distressed Web hosting companies into its own data centers.
The new program, titled Right-Move, "provides customers with a solution aimed at turning a crisis into an opportunity," the company said.
Globix said the program included logistics services, financial incentives including upfront credits and waived install fees, access to a temporary platform while moving to eliminate interruptions, and a security audit to ensure the new deployment is secure.
"Our industry is seeing a lot of knee-jerk reactions to recent announcements," said Pete Stevenson, Globix CEO. "But there is also a silver lining in this. Customers should be able use it as an opportunity to move to a stable environment, and to upgrade their technology and implement security in ways they might not have done otherwise."
Several companies have either shuttered their operations or announced plans to significantly scale back their hosting operations, including giants like Cable & Wireless and Sprint.
