August 11, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- GeoTrust (geotrust.com) and Cyota (cyota.com) announced earlier this week that they had formed a partnership that would enhance consumer protection from the growing problem of phishing threats.
Through the alliance, GeoTrust, an SSL certificate vendor and provider of identification verification solutions, will integrate Cyota's anti-phishing data into its free TrustWatch Toolbar.
TrustWatch is a free domain verification search site and toolbar developed to help consumers fight online fraud. Cyota collects real-time data on phishing attacks for its financial institution customers. The company also develops anti-phishing solutions and operates the eFraudNetwork, a financial fraud detection network comprised of banks, ISPs and major technology companies.
"Today, the TrustWatch toolbar easily verifies the authenticity of domains for thousands of Internet consumers," says Neal Creighton, CEO of GeoTrust. "By adding near real-time attack data from Cyota, we are making good on our pledge to continuously expand and improve the protection that TrustWatch provides consumers."
GeoTrust says it will also be joining Cyota's eFraudNetwork.
"By combining our global phishing intelligence with the GeoTrust TrustWatch toolbar, consumers can rest easy that they are operating within a trusted domain for managing their online financial and e-commerce accounts," says said Amir Orad, executive vice president at Cyota. "And financial institutions will know that more of their users are now protected from fraudulent sites and phishing attacks."
