April 4, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- According to reports, Web hosting provider FatCow (fatcow.com) has been sold to Endurance International Group (enduranceinternational.com), a Web hosting company based in Boston, Massachusetts. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Steve Sydness, CEO of Endurance, said in reports that FatCow was targeted for acquisition because of the strength of its branding, customer base and solid growth. FatCow founder and CEO Jackie Fewell said the company grew by 25 percent from 2003 to 2004 and increased its profit margin by four percent. Between 2001 and 2004 the company's Web hosting client accounts grew from 4,367 to more than 33,000.
Endurance, a specialist in shared hosting, has pursued an aggressive growth through acquisition strategy, acquiring dozens of hosting assets and companies since its inception back in 1997.
Endurance says it will keep the FatCow brand and retain the company?s marketing and technical staff. FatCow CEO and founder Jackie Fewell will stay on and assume the role of vice president of marketing for Endurance.
